What is MasterCard SecureCode?
It is a new service that will help to protect your MasterCard against unauthorized use. SecureCode will ensure the additional protection against unauthorized use of your card when you shop at online merchants – members of the security system.
How does MasterCard SecureCode work?
Once you've registered and received your own private SecureCode, you will have to enter your SecureCode each time you make a purchase with a online merchant – member of the security system. SecureCode is not obtainable to the online merchant. It's just like entering your PIN at an ATM.
How does MasterCard SecureCode protect me?
When you enter your SecureCode during a purchase with an online merchant – member of the security system, to confirm the deal, you confirm that you are the authorized cardholder. The purchase will be confirmed only if the SecureCode will be similar with the SecureCode formerly registered with the JSC NORVIK BANKA.
What are the system requirements for MasterCard SecureCode?
SecureCode works with most browsers. Please note that pop-up killer software may interfere with the use of SecureCode.
Will I need to get a new card to use MasterCard SecureCode?
The service is available for any of your existing MasterCard or Maestro payment card. You can get the SecureCode and apply for Secure Online Shopping program by using the automated system of JSC NORVIK BANKA for remote access to the account e-NORVIK at no extra cost.
How many cards can I register with MasterCard SecureCode?
We encourage you to register all of your MasterCard and Maestro cards. There is no limit on how many cards you can register.
Where can I shop with MasterCard Secure Code?
Most merchants - members of the security system will display the MasterCard SecureCode logo on their site. However, even if you don't see the SecureCode logo, the online merchant may still be a participant and you will be prompted to provide your SecureCode.
How will the online merchant know that I'm registered for MasterCard SecureCode?
Each time you use an enrolled card for payment at participating online merchants, the MasterCard card number will be recognized automatically. Your SecureCode will be requested to make your purchase.
What happens when I use my SecureCode at a online merchant?
When you make a purchase at an online merchant and enter your registered MasterCard or Maestro payment details, you will automatically be prompted to enter your SecureCode. After reviewing the details of your purchase and confirming that cardholder’s Personal Greeting is correct, simply enter your SecureCode to complete your purchase.
What is a Personal Greeting?
A Personal Greeting is a cardholder voice password, stated in the respective payment card agreement. Each time you make an online purchase at an online merchant, you will be prompted to enter your SecureCode. At that time, you'll see Personal Greeting and other purchase details. If the Personal Greeting displayed in the pop-up box is incorrect, you should not enter your SecureCode.
How will SecureCode change the online purchase process?
The online purchase process will not be changed except that now you will be prompted to provide your SecureCode during checkout.
Will I be able to make purchases with merchants that accept MasterCard but do not participate in the MasterCard SecureCode program?
Yes, you will not be asked for your SecureCode during these purchases.
